MORPHOSIS Experimental Short Film

MORPHOSIS – Experimental Short Film

“Morphosis” is an audiovisual meditation on the inevitable process of decay and transformation that shapes human existence. The face— a symbol of identity— undergoes a relentless metamorphosis, shifting from its initial, familiar form to cracks, erosion, digital glitches, and ultimately complete dissolution into the void. What was once a defined “self” disintegrates into fragments, only to be reborn into a new, unknown structure.”

“Morphosis” is a story about the instability of identity and the impermanence of matter.

Human beings have always perceived themselves as stable entities— individuals with a clearly defined form and consciousness. Yet, both in biology and philosophy, identity is fluid. Every particle of our body changes, every thought is fleeting. Our “self” is merely an illusion of permanence, an algorithm of experiences that is constantly rewritten.

The film poses the question: Who are we if our body and mind are processes rather than fixed states?
Are we what we were a second ago, or are we what we are about to become?

“Morphosis” draws inspiration from both Heraclitus’ philosophy (“everything flows”) and modern transhumanist theories, where humans cease to be purely biological organisms and become continuously updated versions of themselves— crumbling, mutating, altered by both time and technology.

The film offers no answers but instead immerses the viewer in a state of transition— a suspended moment between past and future, between existence and disappearance. In “Morphosis,” every fractured piece of the face, every vanishing pixel, serves as a reminder that identity is not a thing, but a process.
